Twenty-five years after community radio broadcasters and community media advocates gathered in Montreal to establish the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC), they meet again as representatives of a global movement of radio producers, communication rights activists, academics, researchers, NGO practitioners, women and men working together to create a more just and humane world through communications and specifically through community radio.

Close loopholes in RTI Ordinance: Speakers tell seminar on right to know

Speakers at a seminar yesterday called on all to extend cooperation in implementing the Right to Information (RTI) Ordinance 2008 for the greater benefit of the countrymen.

Welcoming the council of advisers' approval to the much-awaited ordinance, they said there are several loopholes in the proposed ordinance, which need to be closed in order to ensure maximum disclosure of information.

Participants in the “The Mass Media in the Middle East and the Islamic-Christian Dialogue “ encounter organised earlier this year by the Lebanese group AFAQ Magazine, with the support of WACC

Le 14 et 15 Juin  courant, AFAQ Magazine, en collaboration avec la WACC ( World Association for Christian

Communication) , a tenu, au Collège Patriarcal (beyrouth), un colloque régional sur le thème : "Les moyens de communication au Moyen-Orient et le dialogue islamo-chrétien".

Le quotidien libanais le plus lu An-Nahar a couvert ce colloque par un long article qui a débuté par ces phrases : "Malgré les défis lancés  à la pensée laique au Liban – et bien sûr dans tous les autres pays arabes – la revue AFAQ continue , depuis sa fondation, à poser les défis de la laicité et à chercher des solutions  et des modèles de "laicité arabe" qui peut éliminer le "confessionnalisme institutionnalisé" qui va  , finalement, à l'encontre des droits de l'homme"…
